Ms. Mavis Opoku Asantewaa is currently the regional president for the National Association of Community Mental Health Officers in Ghana. She is also the mental health coordinator for the King of Kings Hospital in Accra. Ms. Opoku has served in various health institutions and has contributed to the development of these facilities. Ms. Opoku believes in a future where Ghana and Africa will have effective and sustainable social system and adequate resource that will help improve the lives of children living with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Ms. Opoku is a mother of one, a mother to a wonderful daughter (Roshelle Brago Boakye) who was born with Down syndrome and through her experience and struggles to raise Roshelle she developed the passion to help these children.
