SGBV PREVENTION (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence)

Standing Against Violence — Protecting the Most Vulnerable

Sexual and gender-based violence is one of the most pervasive human rights violations in our world today and persons with disabilities are among the most at risk. Research consistently shows that women and girls with disabilities are significantly more likely to experience physical, sexual, and psychological violence, yet are least likely to receive justice or support.

At ROBB Foundation, SGBV prevention is not peripheral to our mission — it is central to it. We believe that no advocacy for disability rights or gender equality is complete without a direct commitment to ending violence against vulnerable persons.

What We Do:

We conduct community sensitization programmes that educate families, caregivers, religious leaders, and community members on the rights of persons with disabilities and the forms violence can take including neglect, exploitation, and abuse within the home.

We work to ensure that survivors with disabilities can access referral pathways to appropriate support services medical, legal, and psychosocial — and that those services are equipped to respond in disability-inclusive ways. Too often, existing SGBV services are inaccessible to persons with physical or intellectual disabilities; we advocate for that gap to be closed.

We amplify survivor voices through safe, supportive platforms and push for accountability within institutions schools, healthcare facilities, and government agencies that have a duty to protect.

Our work connects to our broader thematic areas: disability rights violations, gender inequality, and poor mental health all create conditions in which SGBV thrives. By addressing them together, we take a holistic approach to protection and prevention.

Our Commitment:

We stand with survivors. We stand for prevention. And we will not rest until every person — especially those with disabilities — can live free from violence, fear, and exploitation.
