The Roshelle Brago Boakye Foundation (ROBBFOUNDATION) organized the Parent and Caregivers Empowerment Project Lunch – Eastern Region Chapter on 18th July 2026 at Osiem, Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana – Apostolic Church of Church. The event was organized to empower parents and caregivers of children with disabilities by providing psychosocial support, practical livelihood skills, and a platform for networking and mutual encouragement.

The program also marked the official launch of the Eastern Region Chapter of the ROBBFOUNDATION Parents and Caregivers Association. The theme for the launch was “Empowering Parents, Strengthening Caregivers, Promoting Inclusion.” with the objective of creating a strong support network that advocates for the welfare and inclusion of children with disabilities and their families and caregivers and officially onboarding parents and caregivers into the association.

The program brought together approximately 65 participants, comprising parents and caregivers of children with disabilities, education officials, special education professionals, teachers, and representatives from local government.
Among the distinguished guests were:
• The District Director of Education.
• The Special Education (SPED) Coordinator.
• A representative of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
• Teaching staff from a OPASS Special School.
• Parents and caregivers of children with disabilities.
• Heads of CSOs

One of the most impactful sessions of the program was the sharing of personal experiences by parents and caregivers.

Several parents emotionally recounted the challenges they encountered after giving birth to children with disabilities. They described experiences of discrimination, rejection, and stigmatization from sections of society and, in some cases, from close family members. Some shared that they had been pressured to abandon or neglect their children because of their disabilities.

Parents also spoke openly about the emotional, physical, and financial burden associated with raising children with special needs, highlighting the mental strain and sacrifices involved in ensuring their children receive appropriate care and education.

The session also featured inspiring testimonies from other parents who encouraged their colleagues not to lose hope. They shared stories of perseverance, acceptance, and resilience, motivating fellow caregivers to continue advocating for and supporting their children despite societal challenges.

To promote economic empowerment and improve household livelihoods, participants received practical training in soap production.
The skills training covered:
• Liquid soap production.
• Bar soap making.
Participants actively engaged in the demonstrations and expressed appreciation for acquiring practical skills that could serve as an additional source of income to support their families.

A key highlight of the event was the official launch of the ROBBFOUNDATION Parents and Caregivers Association – Eastern Region Chapter.

The Launch was officiated by Mrs. Mavis Opoku Asantewaa, the Executive Director of Roshelle Brago Boakye Foundation (ROBBFOUNDATION)

The launch established a formal platform through which parents and caregivers can support one another, share experiences, advocate for the rights of children with disabilities, and collaborate with stakeholders to improve access to education, healthcare, and social services.

The Parent and Caregivers Empowerment Project Lunch had a significant positive impact by:
• Empowering approximately 65 parents and caregivers through education, motivation, and practical skills training.
• Providing emotional support by creating a safe space for parents to share their experiences and encourage one another.
• Equipping participants with soap-making skills that can generate additional income.
• Strengthening collaboration between parents, educators, and government representatives.
• Successfully launching the Eastern Region Chapter of the ROBBFOUNDATION Parents and Caregivers Association to ensure continued advocacy and mutual support.


The launch also opened the opportunity for participants present to officially join the organization by filling out the required registration forms and obtaining a membership card
