Major Achievements
Introduction of the Integrated Management of Newborn and Childhood Illness(IMCI) in Ghana with resource mobilization and capacity building for implementation at national and lower levels
Development of the first Child Health Record, a comprehensive tool for record keeping for preventive child health activities and for informing care-givers on child care and recognition of danger signs of childhood illness
Revision of the 1999 Child Health Policy and Strategies for Under fives with development of revised documents for 2007-2015
Coordinating meetings between programme managers for planning and resource mobilization for yearly celebration of Child Health Promotion Weeks and Integrated Maternal and Child Health campaigns
Advocacy to place child and neonatal health high on the agenda for the health sector and government
Contributed significantly to capacity building of doctors, midwives, nurses and other health workers in Infant and Young Child Feeding, improved health care practices for newborns and children, control of malaria, diarrhoea, acute respiratory illness, Expanded Programme on Immunization etc.
Coordinated the development of Ghana’s first Newborn Strategy and Action plan and a communication strategy for newborn and childhood illness
